On 21st June the 7th Middlesex battalion of 167 Brigade, 56th Division moved into the trenches in the Hebuterne sector where they set about preparing for the Battle of the Somme which began ten days later. On 23rd June, Alfred Stedall was accidentally shot and killed by a fellow soldier while in the trenches there. |
